A Manufacturing Welder or Fabricator uses specialized welding equipment to join, repair, and fabricate metal components according to blueprints and production specifications. Welders commonly operate MIG, TIG, Flux-Cored, and Stick welding equipment in manufacturing and industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform MIG, TIG, FCAW, and SMAW welding
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Set up welding machines, wire, gas, and voltage settings
- Inspect welds and finished products for quality and accuracy
- Cut, shape, and repair metal using grinders, torches, and plasma cutters
- Follow OSHA safety standards and maintain safe work areas
Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Welding school certification preferred
- Manufacturing or fabrication experience preferred
- Knowledge of steel, aluminum, welding techniques, and machine maintenance
- Ability to lift heavy materials and work in production environments
