Description:
A manufacturing Powder Coat Manager oversees the entire powder coating department, focusing on production efficiency, quality control, equipment maintenance, and team leadership to ensure high-quality, on-time finishing.
They manage personnel, maintain safety (OSHA) compliance, and optimize processes to reduce defects and waste.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- PRODUCTION & PLANNING: Scheduling, managing color changes, and overseeing the entire process - washing, coating, and curing - to meet production goals.
- QUALITY CONTROL: Reviewing part quality, inspecting, and enforcing quality standards (e.g., MIL-SPECS).
- MAINTENANCE: Developing, scheduling, and executing preventative maintenance (PM) for spray systems, conveyors, and curing ovens.
- LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT: Supervising staff, conducting performance reviews, and fostering a safe, efficient, and well-organized shop floor.
- TECHNIAL TROUBLESHOOTING: Resolving issues with application guns, powder quality, curing times, and solvent cleaning.
- COST CONTROL: Managing inventory, minimizing powder usage, and tracking production data.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- EXPERIENCE: Proven experience in a fast-paced powder coating facility, often 3-5+ years, including supervisory experience.
- TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE: Deep understanding of powder types, electrostatic application, pretreatment processes, and curing ovens.
- SAFETY & COMPLIANCE: Thorough knowledge of safety protocols and Environmental, health, and Safety (EHS) regulations.
- LEADERSHIP: Strong communication skills and the ability to lead, train, and develop staff.
